COVID-19 tests can detect either SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, or antibodies that your body makes after getting COVID-19 or after getting vaccinated. Testing is very important to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. You should always discuss your test results with your healthcare provider.


Where can I get tested for COVID-19?

Most health clinics and pharmacies in Navarro County offer COVID-19 testing. The Health Department in Corsicana offers COVID-19 testing by appointment at a cost of $5. If you are needing to get tested, please call us at 903-874-6711.


When should you get tested for COVID-19?

  • If you're experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or
  • At least 5 days after known or suspected close contact to COVID-19


Did you test positive for COVID-19? Here are your next steps.

  • CDC recommends isolating for at least 5 days. 
  • Notify those you have been around with the past 5 days to prevent the spread of COVID-19
  • Monitor your symptoms


How long should I isolate/quarantine?

If you are showing symptoms: 

  • If you do develop COVID-19 symptoms, isolate for at least 5 days from the date your symptoms began (the date the symptoms started is day 0).

If you're not showing symptoms:

  • If you test positive, you should isolate for at least 5 days from the date of your positive test (if you do not have symptoms).

Symptoms of COVID-19:

  • Fever or chills 
  • Cough 
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing 
  • Fatigue 
  • Muscle or body aches 
  • Headache 
  • New loss of taste or smell 
  • Sore throat 
  • Congestion or runny nose 
  • Nausea or vomiting 
  • Diarrhea

Please note, this list does not include all possible symptoms and some individuals with COVID-19 have shown a wide range of symptoms ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness.


Know when to seek medical attention:

  • Trouble breathing 
  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest 
  • New confusion 
  • Inability to wake or stay awake 
  • Pale, gray, or blue-colored skin, lips, or nail beds, depending on skin tone


Please call your medical provider for any other symptoms that are severe or concerning to you. 


Call 911 or call ahead to your local emergency facility: Notify the operator that you are seeking care for someone who has or may have COVID-19.
